{"id":6085,"date":"2016-10-19T13:48:33","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T18:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nogginbuilders.com\/?p=6085"},"modified":"2017-03-27T10:06:24","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T15:06:24","slug":"dry-paper-trick","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nogginbuilders.com\/NBwp\/2016\/10\/dry-paper-trick\/","title":{"rendered":"Dry Paper Trick"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>How can something stay completely dry underwater? \u00a0Experiment and test some different ways to do it before reading our solution!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wad up a piece of paper and place it inside the cup; make sure it will not fall out if the cup is upside down (you can stick a piece of folded tape underneath to make sure)<\/li>\n<li>Fill a bucket with water, higher than the height of the cup<\/li>\n<li>Hold the cup upside down (with the paper inside) and lower it into the bucket of water; make sure it is pointing straight down vertically<\/li>\n<li>Now lift the cup (keep it straight vertically!) all the way out of the water<\/li>\n<li>What happened to the paper? Experiment with different ways of putting the cup in and out of the water to see what happens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How does it work<\/span>?<br \/>\nThe air inside the cup is matter and therefore takes up space.
