There are many bouncy ball recipes out there, but it’s hard to know which one is “just right”.  So I tested and tweaked more than a handful to bring you my choice for best bouncy ball recipe!

Bouncy ball - 6 recipes

You will need for 1 ball (picture 1 below):

4 Tbsp water

1/2 Tbsp borax

1 Tbsp glue

1/4 Tbsp cornstarch

coloring (food coloring or liquid water color)

measuring spoons

2 paper cups

2 plastic spoons

1 plastic container for storing

Bouncy ball directions

In cup A, place 4 Tbsp warm water and ½ Tbsp borax.  Stir to dissolve.

In cup B, place 1 Tbsp glue and add 2-3 drops of food coloring or liquid water color; stir.  Add 1/4 Tbsp cornstarch and stir. (picture 2)

Pour glue mixture into borax solution (picture 3); the glue will solidify within 10 seconds (picture 4). No need to mix.

Remove colloid from the liquid with a spoon (picture 5) and knead by hand (picture 6).  It will be sticky and liquidy at first, but it will solidify as you knead and the glue bits will easily pull off your hands (picture 7).  Roll into a ball.

Bounce!  Place in airtight container to store.
